Consulting mechanical engineer providing engineering and design services to industry and expert testimony services to attorneys, insurance companies, and private parties. Contracts have included mechanical and hydraulic lifting devices for ship loading, towtrucks and towtruck accessories, car carriers, car haulers, compact loaders, forestry mowers, telescopic handlers, scissor lifts, forklifts, auto lifts, trash trucks, floor jacks, loading dock ramps, hydraulic elevators, pipeline padding machines, toy scooters, heat transfer modeling, hydraulic system analysis, towbars, and rock saws. Wellmac Corporation
Co-owner of company which manufactured construction equipment. Mr. Weller personally designed and supervised fabrication of all products, including buckets for wheel loaders for handling straw, trees, and greenwaste; 45 ton capacity rock tongs for removing rock during harbor construction; hydraulic scrap grapples; buckets with integral hydraulic tilt mechanisms for cleaning agricultural ditches, and various loader and excavator buckets for construction equipment.
Pro-West Industries
Co-owner of company manufacturing towtrucks, car carriers, and accessory towing equipment. Mr. Weller designed, marketed, and supervised fabrication and installation of all products developed by the company, including a selfloading crossarm for attaching and lifting a towed vehicle hydraulically from a remote position; a car carrier which has a bed that lowers to a completely horizontal position on the ground and is used for loading and carrying vehicles with extremely low ground clearances; and motorcycle carrier attachments that are easily stored and deployed and which allow motorcycles to be securely carried by a towtruck or car carrier in a manner consistent with the requirements of the California Highway Patrol.
Maxon Corporation
Mechanical engineer responsible for design and analysis of auto lifts. Work included supervision of the ANSI-ALI certification process for the Benwil two post above ground lift, assistance with the transition of the Benwil and Globe product line to Maxon after these were acquired by Maxon.
Benwil Industries
Chief Engineer for a company manufacturing hydraulic lifts for automotive repair shops. The position involved coordination of assembly operations and warranty/customer technical service departments. While at Benwil, Mr. Weller converted the company design platform to CAD (Solid Works), corrected painting processes in place in the shop, and corrected design and assembly problems which had been leading to sticking problems with inground lifts.
Aura Systems
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for design and test of hydraulic systems for controlling valve actuators in automotive engines. The position involved Autocad design of mechanisms, specification of test equipment, supervision of drafting personnel, evaluation and procurement of parts, materials, and test equipment. Other responsibilities included ANSI toleranced design for manufacturing, redesign of engine mounting hardware for beltdriven accessories following standard configuration control procedures and engineering change notices.
TRW, Inc
Engineer and engineering manager at a company carrying out research, development, and design projects in aerospace, energy systems, environmental control, and hazardous waste destruction. Positions with the company included section manager and project manager responsible for data acquisition, design requirements, and impact analysis for systems which incinerate hazardous chemicals such as Agent Orange, and subproject manager and section manager supervising manufacturing engineers, mechanical engineers, and technicians responsible for fabrication of components for nuclear containment systems and microwave power systems.
